The Build
A fast, AI-search-ready website: audit, GEO and SEO, full rebuild.
I’m the owner of TruLight SLC, the Salt Lake County dealer for TruLight permanent lighting. While running that business, I got fed up with marketing agencies that overpromised, underdelivered, and locked me into 12-month contracts I couldn’t get out of. So I started doing my own marketing. And then I built my own website.
That site, plus the way I run the rest of my digital presence, has been a real driver of how TruLight SLC has grown. Front Door Digital is how I do the same thing for other local home-services owners.
I’m not a tech guy by background. I’m a small business owner who got tired of paying for marketing that didn’t move the needle.
I worked with multiple agencies. Every time, the pattern was the same. Big promises in the sales call. A pretty contract. A few months of activity. Then radio silence, vague monthly reports, and the slow realization that the money I was spending wasn’t producing customers. When I tried to leave, I couldn’t. I was locked in.
That experience changed how I think about marketing for my own business and now for the businesses I work with.
I started reading. Then building. I rebuilt TruLight SLC’s website on a modern stack (Next.js on Vercel, the same modern stack a lot of high-traffic sites run on). I wrote my own SEO content. I figured out how to get my site to actually show up in Google AND in the AI search engines like ChatGPT and Perplexity that are becoming the new front door for customers.
The difference was night and day. And the cost of doing it myself was a fraction of what I’d been paying agencies to underperform.
The difference was night and day.
So now I do it for other local owners.
Front Door Digital started with the site itself, then grew into a practical AI front-of-house: the AI-search-ready website foundation plus live teammates that catch calls, reply to web leads, build trust, keep Google current, win back quiet leads and past customers, run ads and social, and publish helpful local content.

Plugs this leak: Quiet leads and past customers
Drafts your ad campaigns and social posts, you approve, then publishes and optimizes across Meta and AI search.
Plugs this leak: Not enough new demand
No mystery line items on the invoice. Every engagement is scoped on a 15-minute discovery call and quoted in writing before anything starts: one page, scope and price together. If something costs extra, like AI voice usage, you see how it is billed before you sign anything.
If you can’t tell exactly what you’re paying for after reading your quote, that’s our fault and we’ll fix it.
Everything is month-to-month. No 6-month minimums. No 12-month traps. No 90-day cancellation clauses. If we’re not producing results for your business, you cancel. The service runs through the end of your current paid month and that’s it. No fees, no notice period, no hard feelings.
I want my clients to stay because the work is good. Not because they’re stuck.
I still run TruLight SLC, and I will for the long haul. Front Door Digital is built on top of running an actual local home-services business, not on top of theory. When I tell you something will work for a local home-services business, it’s because I’ve run it on my own business and watched it run on others’.
If you want to see the website I built for TruLight SLC, trulightslc.com . Same stack, same approach, same principles I’d bring to your site.
If you’re a home-services owner who has ever felt the way I felt about your marketing, let’s talk. The first thing I’ll do is run a Front Door Score on your existing site so you can see exactly what we’d change and why.
